Volvo Trucks' biggest launch ever deserved a big announcement. In the film “The Tower”, we see the new Volvo FMX, Volvo FH, Volvo FH16 and Volvo FM trucks stacked on top of each other, complete with the president on top.

Launching more than one truck at the same time is almost unheard of in the truck industry. So, to mark the introduction of its new range, a striking film – set in the dead of night – showcases all four trucks in a spectacular 15-metre, 58-tonne tower. As the film reaches its climax, Roger Alm, Volvo Trucks’ president, is revealed standing on top of it.

“This is our biggest launch ever at Volvo Trucks. The new trucks will have a huge impact on our customers’ profitability and ability to compete both for business and the best drivers. I´m used to be on top of things, but for me, shooting the truck tower was definitely an unusual day at work,” said Roger Alm.

The film was shot in late 2019 just outside of Volvo’s hometown of Gothenburg, Sweden. Both The Tower and most of the visual effects are real.

“Essentially, The Tower was made possible thanks to the sturdy construction truck, Volvo FMX, and its new 38-tonne bogie being able to carry the weight of the other trucks. It also required a steady speed and course, accomplished by the Volvo Dynamic Steering technology and a skilled driver,” says Markus Wikström, engineer at Volvo Trucks and part of the team behind The Tower.
